Fairfield Host Lions Club Raises $100,000 to Restore Downtown Arch |
One of Fairfield’s Most Recognizable Landmarks is Getting a Fresh New Chapter |
The Fairfield Host Lions Club has successfully raised $100,000 to restore the city’s historic Downtown Arch, a beloved symbol that has welcomed residents and visitors since 1925.
The fundraising milestone was recognized during the June 16 Fairfield City Council meeting, where city leaders thanked the Lions Club for helping preserve a piece of local history ahead of Fairfield’s America 250 celebration. Originally built by the Lions Club more than a century ago, the arch has long stood as a marker of downtown pride and community identity.
The restoration project will include fresh paint, updated lighting, and commemorative plaques honoring Fairfield’s history and its role as an America 250 Pledge City. Lions Club representative Nancy Meadows presented a ceremonial check at the council meeting, marking the completion of the campaign.
City officials praised the effort as a powerful example of what community partnerships can accomplish. Meadows also shared that any funds raised beyond the $100,000 goal will continue supporting local youth and senior programs.
The restored arch will take center stage during Fairfield’s Fourth of July festivities, giving residents a chance to celebrate both local history and community spirit.
