LOCAL DISCOVERY

Vaquero Cafe -- A Hidden Gem (weekdays only)

Some of the best local finds are the places you might drive right past. Vaquero Cafe is tucked inside a business building on Vaquero Circle in Vacaville, but don't let the unexpected location fool you. This weekday breakfast-and-lunch spot has earned a loyal following for generous portions, reasonable prices, friendly service, and rotating daily specials.

From satisfying breakfast favorites to comfort-food lunch specials, there's often something new coming from the kitchen. If you enjoy discovering those under-the-radar places locals quietly return to again and again, Vaquero Cafe deserves a spot on your list.

📍 1010 Vaquero Circle, Vacaville

Sukhothai Cuisine — Thai Flavors with a Family Touch

If Thai food sounds good this weekend, Sukhothai Cuisine in Suisun City is worth putting on your list. Family-owned since 2007, this neighborhood favorite combines warm hospitality with a menu full of Thai comfort food.

Try the Pad Thai, bold Drunken Noodles, crispy Lemon Chicken, or one of their flavorful curries—and you can choose your own level of heat. Vegan and gluten-free options are available on most dishes, too. It's the kind of welcoming local restaurant where good food and personal service keep people coming back.  Closed Mondays.

FEATURED BUSINESS

Skylight Electrical Services - A Local Business that Brightened Our Day

I always enjoy featuring a local business I've personally had a good experience with, and Skylight Electrical Service is one of them. We recently needed a ballast bypass completed on our fluorescent lighting, and their team came out and took care of the job for us.

Skylight is a Fairfield-based electrical contractor serving homes and businesses throughout the area, handling everything from lighting upgrades and troubleshooting to electrical panels and EV chargers. Professional electrical work isn't something most of us think about until we need it—and it's good to know we have experienced local professionals nearby.

They're located at 4227 Lozano Lane, Unit H, Fairfield, and the listed phone number is 707-515-5503.

Larry's Produce -  Fresh from Suisun Valley

Living this close to Suisun Valley means I'm fortunate to have places like Larry's Produce practically in my backyard. What began as a small roadside produce stand in 1986 has grown into a local destination for fresh fruits and vegetables, including many varieties grown right here in the valley.  Best selection of Heirloom tomatoes in the county.

There's even U-Pick produce for those who want to head into the fields themselves. Larry's is colorful, casual, and unmistakably local—the kind of place that reminds you just how fortunate we are to live next door to one of California's wonderful agricultural communities.

📍 4606 Suisun Valley Road, Fairfield

Larry's currently lists hours of 9 a.m.–5 p.m., closed Wednesdays, and notes that it is cash only, with an ATM onsite.

Secret Little Hack

Sunrise River Walks Without Crowds

Want a peaceful way to start your morning in Solano County? Head to the Vallejo Waterfront, but skip the main promenade—locate the tucked-away River Park Trail, a lesser-known path starting behind the Cal Maritime campus. At sunrise, you’ll not only beat the crowds, but often spot migratory birds skimming the water as the hills light up. Bring a thermos and enjoy a quiet morning retreat only locals know about!
